The Morgan County Emergency Communications District has full-time Telecommunicator positions open at this time. Requirements to be a Telecommunicator pursuant to T.C.A. Code 7-86-205: Be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Be a citizen of the United States. Be a high school graduate or possess equivalency (GED). Not have been convicted or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to a felony charge or to any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substance. Not have been released or discharged under other than an honorable or medical discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States. Have such person's fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician. Have a good moral character as determined by a thorough investigation conducted by the employing agency. Each Telecommunicator will receive at least one hundred twenty-eight hours (128) of dispatch training. To include but not limited to: Basic Telecommunicator Course Emergency Medical Dispatch Fire Communications N.C.I.C/T.I.E.S. Certification through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Plus other on the job training. Other items to be taken into consideration: Ability to multitask Ability to work with a computer: o Typing Skills o Experience with computers: Word Processing Database Entry Spreadsheet Internet E-mail Other Skills These positions may require you to work during: Holidays, weekends, day shifts , night shifts, family/friend functions, birthdays, overtime, etc Public relation skills.
